Cast Iron Apple Crisp

Try this fun and simple recipe with your kids in the fall when apples are in season! They will love slicing the apples, mixing them up, and taste testing!
Ingredients

6 apples (granny smith)

¼ cup raw coconut sugar

¼ cup pure maple syrup

2 tbsp butter
-
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (OR equal parts cinnamon, nutmeg & clove)

1 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
-
¼ tsp REAL salt (redmonds real salt)

1 cup high quality flour (einkorn is what I use)

1 cup oats (NOT quick oats)

⅓ cup coconut sugar

¼ tsp REAL salt
-
½ cup butter

Directions
Apple Crisp Filling
Preheat oven to 350º
Peel, core & slice apples
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, coconut sugar, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, salt, lemon juice, and melted butter. Mix well.
Pour apple mixture into cast iron pan
Apple Crisp Topping
In a large bowl combine flour, oats, coconut sugar and salt. Mix well.
Add melted butter. Mix with your hands until it forms a crumbly consistency.
Evenly sprinkle the crumble over the apples in the skillet.
Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes.
Serve warm and top with homemade vanilla ice cream.
